Book-Face Update

Reporting on progress in the book-face department, Margot managed to fall asleep in a more graceful position the other night. Her mother, we're still working on.

Fashion Shoot

Mama wanted some pics to share of Margot STILL fitting in the dress a friend made for her ages ago. This is Margot's best pose-for-a-picture pose, or at least her favorite one on this particular evening.

... and some form of pondering. Although, it might just be trying to recover from excessive spinning.

Her Own Room (and, a Warning)

Margot recently moved into her-very-own-room, and has adjusted rapidly to being Queen (or at least Princess) of her own domain. (Meanwhile, Mama and Daddy are re-adjusting to being once again relatively in control of their own room!)

HOWEVER, one dire warning is in order. We've tried to read to Margot as much as possible, and encourage her to read a book to herself in bed if she's not ready to go right to sleep. She even has her own little light for this purpose. But many nights, when we go in to turn out her light after she's succumbed, we find the horrible sight of . . .

Channeling Scarlett O'Hara

A conversation with Margot who is gluing things onto paper:

Margot: Hey, there's some dog hair on here.
Me: Yep.
Margot: Why?
Me: That's what happens when you live with a dog. Dog hair goes places.
Margot: Jolly, I believe you go dog hair on here.

I was ready to respond "I do declare", but Margot wouldn't have gotten the reference.

A Parental Rite of Passage

At dinner, Margot started asking "why?" incessantly. We knew it was coming, but hoped that somehow we would have the one child who doesn't go through this phase. No such luck. Now we just have to stay sane.

It's amazing to me how these milestones can be pinpointed to a very specific moment.

Some Margot Philosophy

Every evening and morning, Margot exclaims "I want to go on vacation!" She means that she wants to be on the beach.

From now on,I will consider myself on vacation every time I go to the beach.
