A Cute Update

Margot has been grudgingly letting me do her hair sometimes. Today I convinced her to let me try french braid pigtails. The results are adorable beyond words.

Delayed Halowe'en

Much better weather last night, as re-scheduled, than a week ago during the snow storm.

For some reason, the "before" pictures ended up with back views as the clear ones...

Just before heading out to actually beg candy . . . with Will and Henry who invited us over to their neighborhood.

Tired and heading home... still counting the loot.

Forging Her Own Path

While setting up a game, Margot said, "Mama, I don't play by the rules. I make up my own rules!"

Now I'm picturing her in black leather, riding on a motorcycle, and living life on the edge.

Best Shoes Ever!

Grammy got Margot new fancy shoes and she hasn't willingly taken them off since they arrived. (I'll let you imagine the fights at bed time and the day when it rained.) To go with the sparkles and tulle and PINK, Margot will now only wear dresses or skirts or both at the same time. To show the depth of her devotion, she now refuses to go outside because that is where fancy shoes get ruined. She learned that after some exuberant puddle stomping destroyed a pair of suede flats.

I wish the shoes had come during a heat wave rather than the gorgeous not-too-hot that we've been having. Hot weather is coming, so the reign of the new shoes is probably almost over.

Sippy Cup Girl

Someone has figured out how to use a sippy cup. It's amazing how quickly she is developing new skills. They just show up one day like someone flipped a switch.

Two teeth!

Isla has had her first tooth (bottom right) for about two weeks now. It's not sticking up much, but it's there. Well, today I discovered that it's neighbor, bottom left, is just poking through. The age of biting has begun!

Crazy great hair (requires a unique angle - or lots of gel?)

Isla's suddenly gotten all roly-poly and likes to spend time on her tummy interacting with things. She's getting really good at pushing up to get a look at the action, and even trying to work her legs into the act as well. It's now quite possible to find that she's not still where you put her down . . .

I'm really psyched with the idea of the girls being able to play together. It's not all there quite yet, but they can now really interact with the same thing or with each other. Margot's always been great with Isla, but we're getting close to some mutuality. I figure I'd better enjoy it now, before they team up and turn on me.

Hard to tell at first, but this is basically Margot dancing in circles to amuse Isla, and Isla eating it up.
